Paranormal Profilers

When smart-talking, cool-headed Julianna Suranyi arrives at a job, there’s always an entourage of eager helpers on hand – it’s just that most of them are dead. 

Julianna has forged a hugely successful career out of using her phenomenal forensic profiling and psychic abilities since she first cracked a murder case for Sydney detectives, fresh out of Catholic high school - much to the nun’s dismay! 

Police-trained, she’s worked on some of the country’s highest profile murder and missing person cases, and in today’s climate where even the US military has a psychic unit, she’s now much sought after by the likes of Middle Eastern royalty, multinationals and business tycoons around the world for her chillingly accurate business insight. 

When she’s not busy working with detectives or business types, the intuitive profiler also uses her special talents helping individuals and families, solve a multitude of personal problems. 

Whatever the case, through it all, she’s ably assisted by her savvy, fashionista business partner, Nicole, who’s in charge of lining up assignments and briefing Julianna (a la ‘Charlie’s Angels’) before sending her on her way - “I manage the living, Jules manages the dead”.  

This 10 x 60’ factual entertainment series will follow our sassy, super-chic duo on two cases per episode - from the first phone ring and subsequent client briefing, through to the highs and lows of the psychic reading and forensic profiling, before the dramatic final resolutions. 

Each episode will wrap up with client check ins (perhaps months later), where we’ll follow up to uncover the outcomes of the investigations. 

As the following sample of callouts and long-form teaser reveal, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to diversity of stories and scenarios - for, as Nicole is fond of saying: “The one thing that’s guaranteed in this industry is that nothing is off-limits when it comes to asking a psychic for help!” 

Having said that, in light of current industry trends, audience appetites for true crime (thanks Netflix!), and Julianna’s special forensic + psychic skill-set, ‘Paranormal Profiler’ will focus mostly on the cold case side of their business (but we are, of course, always flexible!). 

Our ‘Supernanny of the Supernatural’ will not only crack unsolved murders, mysteries and disappearances, she’ll also give us a unique, unprecedented glimpse into a psychic’s M.O. 

Despite its sometimes tragic and confronting storylines, this series won’t be an entirely tense and emotionally charged affair, with comic relief springing from the regular banter between the two besties - particularly on the way to and from jobs (think ‘SketchShe’ crossed with ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’). 

Warmth, humour and charm will also be supplied in good doses by supporting characters such as Julianna’s acerbic Hungarian dad, Fred, who frequently drops in unannounced, and our leading lady’s love interest (and former Milan football star), Salvo the Sicilian. 

Whilst ‘Paranormal Profiler’ is bound to be hugely entertaining, it’s also all set to challenge belief systems, defy expectations and provide an innovative, multi-layered take on an age-old practice in the contemporary world. 

Oh, and just for the record, Julianna predicts we’ll win an Emmy…
